SAVE THE DATE AND SHARE THE POST PLEASE! History in the making takes place when La Caverna, Lossiemouth becomes The 1629 Cavern Club (just like Liverpool), on Thursday 20 April 2017. The doors will open at 7.30pm to this intimate, stone vaulted 17th century salt cellar for an evening of Open Mic musical entertainment. Going back over 50 years to the Swinging Sixties, this event will have a twist with everyone being encouraged to come dressed in the style of that decade and acts to play at least one tune from The Beatles or that era. All genres of music are welcome.

If you are looking for something unique then look no further! We are delighted to be working with Gillian Neish, a maker and a teacher. She is supplying us with beautiful hand crafted lamp shades which match beautifully with our re-cycled whisky stave lamps made by Keith Kingham. Gillian is a Fine Art Lecturer at Moray School of Art, who previously studied at Grays School of Art. Lamps are £50 (made just for Leap Gallery, with copper piping in keeping with the "whisky" theme, and shades are £37 to £45 depending on style, one piece, patched or hand-embroidered. All materials used are sourced by the artist and some are quite distinctively vintage!

A lovely start to the day with a visit to Rothes Primary School to judge the art competition. Winners will be announced tomorrow! I took this painting by Chris Sharp with me for Primary 7 budding artists to aspire to. And it's sitting on an easel made by local craftsman Keith Kingham.
